The City of Issaquah

Issaquah is a great community in which to live and work. During my 11-year tenure with another community bank in Issaquah, I enjoyed developing relationships within our market, providing financing needs for local businesses and participating in the economic vitality and growth of the community.[1] Issaquah is nestled among what are known as the “Issaquah Alps.”.These hills include Tiger Mountain, known around the region for its miles of trails and wildlife. [2] Issaquah is a unique combination of trees and telecommuting, salmon and semiconductors. Rich with history, surrounded by outdoor recreation, and close to urban centers, Issaquah has become the Northwest’s top destination for living, working, shopping, and playing.[3]

Issaquah is hardly alone in this mission. Since its inception in 1999, King County’s Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) Program has preserved nearly 92,000 acres of valuable open space and fish and wildlife habitat — nearly twice the land of any other TDR program in the country.[4] Issaquah is located on the southern shore of Lake Sammamish just off the I-90 corridor. It is also located 16 miles east of Seattle and considered part of the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett metro area.[5] Issaquah is largely financed by its business and retail tax base. This has the effect of subsidizing residential areas, which are able to pay lower property taxes than we pay in unincorporated King County.[6]

Issaquah is one of the most fast growing cities in Washington. Issaquah real estate market is still fairly decent over last year at this time.[7] Issaquah is quite unique in that there are no immediate neighboring municipalities. The fourth side of the city sits on Lake Sammamish.[8] Issaquah is not, however, frozen in time. On either side of I-90, acres of horribly ugly strip malls and sprawling office complexes have sprung up.[9]

Issaquah is already home to some of the worlds largest corporations. About 2,900 out of the 118,800 Costco employees worldwide work in either the Issaquah headquarters or warehouse.[10] Issaquah is a great community and very supportive. People stop by just to see how things are going.[11] Issaquah is also the first Zeeks to feature a full bar. The restaurant will offer seating for 100 people and an outdoor patio, and will feature delicious Zeeks pizzas such as the Puget Pounder, Tree Hugger and Texas Leaguer, as well as cult favorites such as the Veggie Thai, Forager and Chevre Roast.[12]
